
Chemical Peel
- Chemical peels use a chemical solution to improve the skin's appearance.
- It can reduce or eliminate fine lines under the eyes and around the mouth, correct uneven skin pigmentation, remove precancerous skin growths, and soften acne or treat scars caused by acne.
- This procedure can also treat wrinkles caused by sun damage and scarring, as well as skin blemishes common with age and heredity.
- Chemical peels can be performed on the face, neck, chest, hands, arms, and legs.
Day of Treatment:
- Come to your appointment with a clean face (no Make-up).
- Purchase the Universal Cleanser, Vaseline or Aquaphor and Hydrocortisone ointment 1%(if necessary) before your appointment. These items can be purchased at any drug store.
- Do not wash your face for 4-6 hours after treatment.
- Do not use any of the Cosminology products or any other products than the ones mentioned on this handout, UNTIL you have finished peeling.
Day Two:
- You may use the Universal Cleanser both to wash the area and to hydrate the skin.
The area should be patted dry and Vaseline or Aquaphor ointment should be applied as needed to keep skin lubricated.
- Hydrocortisone ointment is only to be used if you are itching. Apply a thin layer to affected area, you may also use a cold soft wash cloth and apply it very gently to the affected area.
- You can apply make-up if you wish to do so, be careful not to pull on the skin when applying.
- Apply Sunblock if going out into the sunlight.
- Do not use any of the Cosminology products or any other products than the ones mentioned on this handout, UNTIL you have finished peeling.
Day Three and on:
- Expect to start peeling on Day 3 and it can last approximately 3-5 days.
- You may use the Universal Cleanser both to wash the area and to hydrate the skin.
The area should be patted dry and Vaseline or Aquaphor ointment should be applied as needed to keep skin lubricated.
- Apply Sunblock if going out into the sunlight.
- You can apply make-up if you wish to do so, be careful not to pull on the skin when applying.

Note Special Instructions:
- If Electrosurgery is also done with the chemical peel use Bacitracin or Neosporin for 3 days on areas treated.
You can schedule your chemical peels at least 2 weeks apart.
