Smoothbeam for Acne

What is Smoothbeam™?

• Smoothbeam™ is a laser that is effective in treating acne, acne scarring and collagen depleted skin. 
• To treat acne this gentle, safe treatment targets overactive sebaceous glands in your skin-the root cause of acne. 
• Smoothbeam™ laser uses a patented LASR™ (laser assisted skin renewal) process which with DCD™ (dynamic cooling device), targets and heats collagen in the upper dermis while protecting your skin which stimulates new collagen formation. 
• This new collagen can improve the appearance of atrophic acne scars by reducing the depth and softening the edges of the scar. 
• This also helps to Rejuvenate the skin because the newly generated collagen improves the appearance of your skin.
• Medical lasers such as Smoothbeam™ are safe and have been used for over 20 years to treat many medical and cosmetic skin conditions.

What is treatment like?

• Patients will come in and have a Vibraderm™ Facial treatment to remove dead skin on the surface of the face this will allow for deeper penetration of the Smoothbeam™ laser, this will yield greater results.
• A prescription strength numbing cream will be applied to your face, and remain on for 45-60 minutes.  This will minimize any discomfort you might have from the treatment.
• You and Dr. Ali will wear safety goggles to protect your eyes during the procedure.  Dr. Ali will use a small hand piece with a probe that touches your skin to deliver the laser light.  You will feel a light spray of coolant on your skin just before each laser pulse.

Post-Treatment

• Do not wash your face for 4-6 hours after treatment.
• You may use WellMedica’s After Laser Gel to relieve any discomfort.   The application of ice during the first few hours after treatment will reduce any discomfort and swelling that may be experienced.
• Do not use the Dr.’s Prescription cream the night of treatment.  The Cleanser and Anti-Oxidant cream can be used the same night of treatment.  You may resume use of the Prescription cream product 2-5 nights after treatment depending on your skin’s sensitivity.
• It is recommended that you use your sunblock the next morning.  You may resume all other WellMedica products 1-5 days after treatment depending on your skin’s sensitivity.
• Make-up may be applied the next day.

You can schedule your Smoothbeam sessions 4 weeks apart.
