What are veins?

They are blood vessels that are a key part of blood circulation in the body for they carry blood to the heart. Most veins carry oxygen-depleted blood from the tissues to the heart, except for the pulmonary and umbilical that carry oxygenated.

What types of veins do we treat?

Facial, blue veins under the eyes, leg veins (also known as varicose veins,), and spider veins.

Why do veins appear as we get older?

As we get older our skin becomes thinner. Thus, veins become more visible. This is especially so with veins under the eyes as the skin is known to already be very thin.

Are they dangerous?

Typically they are not considered dangerous and are simply a cosmetic problem for those that feel they are visually unappealing. However, varicose veins can sometimes cause aching and swelling pain that leads to discomfort in the legs in and lower half of the body. This can come along with restlessness, heaviness in the leg, and sleepiness. They can also lead to blood clots, as well as skin changes. Studies have also shown they may be a signal of blood flow problems.

How do I get started?

Arrange a consultation with Dr. Ali to discuss your expectations and the estimated number of treatment sessions you will need.

Vbeam

The Candela Vbeam produces an intense, but gentle, burst of light that selectively destroys the blood vessels of your spider veins, without damaging the surrounding tissue. After laser treatment the surrounding tissue is left intact. The Vbeam can also treat rosacea, leg veins, scars, warts, stretch marks, hemangiomas, and red birthmarks. It does so quickly and conveniently with virtually no pain.
