Excessive Sweating or Hyperhidrosis

The medical term for excessive sweating is hyperhidrosis, and it usually begins in childhood or early adolescence. It is necessary for the body to sweat in order to cool itself, and to prevent overheating. Yet, people who have hyperhidrosis sweat even when the body does not need to be cooled. Although any site on the body can be affected this condition, the sites most commonly affected are the palms, soles, and axillae. This excessive sweating can hinder one’s everyday life. Hands can sweat so much that shaking hands is uncomfortable. Underarms can soak through clothes causing obvious sweat marks. Therefore, many seek out treatment to help alleviate their hyperhidrosis.

ThermiDry for Excessive Sweating

The most recent solution for this medical condition is ThermiDry by ThermiTight, which is a minimally invasive treatment that helps to reduce excessive sweating. This is an FDA approved device that delivers radio-frequency energy beneath the skin. Radio-frequency energy is typically used for non-surgical face-lifts, however when used for sweating individuals have experienced incredible results that are long-lasting. Our patients have noticed drastic differences with much of the same results as Botox, but at a lower cost and less frequent appointments. Results can last for several years as compared to Botox which lasts for 3-6 months.

How it Works

After local numbing, in order to ensure comfort, a tiny ThermiDry probe is inserted underneath the skin and moved to the sweat glands. The area is then heated with radiofrequency energy to block nerves which then disables the sweat glands. In order to guide the procedure and insure skin safety a Thermal Image Guidance is used during the procedure. After treatment there is little to no downtime, and one can likely resume their daily activities. Scarring does not typically occur after treatment even though a small incision is made with the ThermiDry probe. You should notice an IMMEDIATE reduction in sweating, and results last for several years.

Who is a Good Candidate?

ThermiDry is for anyone who feels self-conscious or concerned about their excessive sweating anywhere on the body. Hyperhidrosis is a condition that effects both the physical and emotional. Instead of avoiding the problem, our patients who have received the treatment have dealt with it head on and could not be happier with their results. Our Doctor, Dima Ali, meets with all of her patients prior to treatment and creates a customized treatment plan that is perfect for them, in order to achieve the best results possible.
